How did you hear about this project
Through friends involved and on Instagram
What work have you been doing for The 4 Day Box?
I had the pleasure of brainstorming communication ideas with Anne-lise and Talent Lab, then I helped get The 4 Day Box blog started and a Fact Sheet ready for press inquiries and other organizations looking to replicate the concept.
What sort of volunteering have you done before?
When I was in the US I was a Court Appointed Child Advocate and I started a volunteer program for alumni of my University. In Europe I was involved in FAWCO with the International Women’s Club and communications for Democrats Abroad, and I support Emergency, Doctors Without Borders, Translators Without Borders and Inspiring Girls.
What’s the best part part of your experience with helping out here?
I have witnessed more passion, genuine care and dedication here than in any other experience. The women and men donating their time, money and items come together and make meaningful connections with each other and with the people receiving boxes. This is humanity at its best.
How do you feel about the idea of opening this up so everyone from any nationality who needs a box can have one?
These are unprecedented times, everywhere. I welcome the idea of not limiting who can receive a box based on their nationality. I believe the model can incorporate the ‘come back and help’ concept already being done spontaneously where those who receive a box return when they can to volunteer, gaining not only the tangible items in the box, but also the opportunity to give back and take the project full circle.
